The year 1992 was when Amanda Bossard began her study of marine biology in Anchorage at Alaska Pacific University. Bossard started her commercial fishing career in 1999, when she began working on the ship F/V Sunset. This 65' schooner that was converted into a salmon tender was operated by Murat Aritan. The fisherman has been in commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard was married to Aritan in 1999, and the two have joined to defend their businesses. Both are in favor of conserving resources and maximizing the profits. Otolith, a wholesale direct seafood company, was established in 2007 by Bella Bossard (age three), Andre Bossard (1 year old) and Bossard's mother. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia after having two young children.
